Kyoto and the Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine
One day when we were in Kyoto my family and I went to see one of the most popular sites in the city, the Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine. It is a big shrine with a bunch of orange buildings, but the main exciting part was the long hike you could go on through thousands of big Torii gates. Torri gates are orange statues that mark the entrance to a sacred space.
It took about 2 1/2 hours to hike to the top of the mountain and back. But it was worth it! The higher you got the less people were there, and when we got to the top we practically had it all to ourselves. We got really tired and had to take a lot of breaks. When we were done with the hike we all agreed to go home and relax for the rest of the day, so that is what we did.
